BASICS - Vending machine part names explained (with pics)

VENDING MACHINE PART NAMES/TERMS EXPLAINED.
This forum is to help non-experts repair their own vending machines. So this first post is to acquaint new members of this forum with some of the names of certain vending machine parts. This will help you better describe your problem AND help other members understand what you are talking about. The following list contains the names of major parts of your vending machine with PICTURES of each part to help you identify it! So here goes:

PARTS NAME/PICTURE

T HANDLE with LOCK
twist (screw in/out) until tight then push in to lock
VENDING MACHINE LOCK(in middle of t-handle)
(also called barrel lock, pop-out lock, tubular lock, T-handle lock, etc.)
when key is inserted into lock and turned t-handle pops out picture below:

VALIDATOR or BILL ACCEPTOR
this is the dollar bill acceptor, a coinco ba-30 model is pictured below:

COIN MECHANISM or COIN MECH(some times called coin changer) this accepts, counts the coins and makes change, picture below:

ACCEPTOR (some times called the rejector) upper part of coin mech, picture below:

110v JONES PLUG (single price soda machine)(has 9 pins) connects single price coin mech to machine, picture below:

24v COIN MECH PLUG (older multi-price soda machines & older snack machines) comes in 15 pin and 12 pin versions, connects coin mech to machine, usually multi-price, picture below:

MDB WIRING HARNESS (like the plugs above it connects the coin mech to the machine's motherboard. it also connects the validator the the motherboard)

VEND RELAY (also called vend solenoid), picture below:

MOTOR COVER (soda machine) picture below:

SELECTION MOTOR (soda machine) when activated it moves the rails to vend a can/bottle, motor is round dark part in lower part of picture below:

SELECTION MOTOR CAM (soda machine) can be set to different numbers/types of cans/bottles, round red/white disk in picture below:
SELECTION MOTOR MICROSWITCHES (soda machine) works with cam to stop motor at appropriate time, red arrow pointing left in picture below
SELECTION MOTOR BRAKE (soda machine) stops the motor after a vend, red arrow pointing down in picturre below
