i hope someone can help.
I just bought this from a closed factory where it sat for about 3 years. After cleaning all the old soda out, and making sure everything else works, I finally plugged the compressor in.
the problem
The compressor clicks on then clicks off. Waits a second then repeats. Is the compressor bad? What else should I look at?
another question
Does the select light stay on until the selection is made? Or does it just flash once(this is what mine is doing)?
After further testing the overload switch keeps tripping. It seems that the starting function works but when it goes to the run part it trips. I have bypassed the overload and it will start, run for a second, then stop. I only did this once because I didn't want to really mess things up. I am guessing that there is a problem in the actual running part of the compressor. Does this mean the compressor is shot? The ohm readings from the common to run is 1.4 and common to start is 3.0. Is this good, bad normal?
Please help! Any help would be nice.
quartzman,
This can be one of several different problems:
1. You may not have enough power to operate the machine, you have to have 15 amps available to run the soda machine. You can not run one off of a long extension cord (to great voltage drop) and you can not run anything else on that circuit(voltage down/amps up). So plug into wall outlet directly and test your voltage at that wall outlet (especially when other high amp things are running, e.g. fans, air conditioners, etc.). If your voltage is not fairly close to 117 volts that might be your problem.
2. It could be the compressor was overcharged (somebody fixing the compressor put in too much freon). If so you will need to take your compressor to be fixed by refrigerator repair tech.
3. It could be a problem internally in the compressor causing the overload protection to kick out (your compressor is bad), while you could get it fixed if it is bad internally, repair cost will probably exceed the cost of replacement, they run about (used) $175+shipping on the web.
Hopes this helps,
daryl
Thanks Daryl
1. I currently am using an extension cord right now. I will try hooking it up directly to a wall outlet with nothing else on. But everything else works while hooked up to extension cord.
2. It doesn't look like anyone touched this machine in Years. Do I don't think it is overcharged.
3. I am suspecting that there is an internal compressor problem. I have found one on eBay for $180 shipped. If things don't go we'll with the extension cord then it is rebuilt compressor time.
Thank you again
i bought a Pepsi Vendo 6 selection machine but can't seem to find the model number. I have included 2 pics in the hopes that someone can help. Thank you in advance
Thanks for the better pics, it is easy to read on the label you have a Vendo 312.
In the future please post a new topic, I almost didn't see this comment on an old topic.
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, but please post a new topic when doing so.
Thanks
daryl
Thanks, Daryl. When you say "post a new topic" do you mean to psot my question under add a new comment?? Sorry I am just starting out on this forum.
westvend2002,
To post a 'New Topic' you click on the 'New Topic' button located on the page that lists all the topics on that forum (it's main page). I included a screen shot of GENERAL VENDING MACHINE REPAIR FORUM's main page and I put a red arrow pointing to the button.
Hope this helps,
daryl
