Mars/MEI TRC-6010 not accepting coins

Hi, I'm an electronics tech with 15 years experience at a casino and my past 15 years in industry but am not familiar with vending machines. I'm trying to help the owner of my local laundry fix his Automatic Products Company C-series snack machine with an MEI TRC-6010XCV 15 pin 24V coin changer. The machine itself seems to be working ok, the display comes on, and asks for the correct amount when a selection is attempted but all coins fall through and won't accept. I determined that the coin mech is getting 5V and 24V to the right pins and the Accept Enable line (active low) is at zero volts. When I first got there, he already had his washer/dryer repair guy look at it, and he busted the coils on the back side, or they were already broken. He had put in just the acceptor mechanism from a soda machine, leaving the original housing and logic board in the machine. I believe it was from a 115V model and this one is 24V. The solenoids measured over 600 ohms, but the originals only measure 30 ohms, so I swapped them. Now my questions are as follows: Are the sensing coils on the back and front sections identical/interchangeable from a 115V to 24V unit, or are they different? Also, I downloaded the manual from MEI and tried the tuning procedure but not 100% sure I was doing it right. I set the dip switches as shown, shorted a screw driver between the 2 pins at the bottom behind the mech, and powered it up. Then I followed the order shown. 1st I dropped a US nickel through, then I hit the coin return button to skip the Canadian nickel and I heard a solenoid make a click. I did the US dime, coin return to skip the Canadian dime, and the same thing for the quarter. Then I hit the coin return 4 more times to skip both dollar coins and both tokens. I did not hear any more solenoid clicks after the 1st one. Also, on the next page it talks about calibrating it by dropping 15 coins of the same type through but does not say how to get into the calibration mode or what has to be done prior to that. The procedure is unclear to me. Can someone please clarify it for me? Also, if the sensing coils are not interchangeable between 24V and 115V models, then I guess I'll have to order a new unit. Any troubleshooting/repair tips on these would be very much appreciated as I am new to vending. Thanks in advance for your help.

There's no need to mess with the mech.

It needs to be repaired. You can email me at rbepic4gatgmaildotcom for an exchange unit if you need a rebuilt unit.
