[SOLVED] Cavalier USS-8-64 Tripping Breaker

So I picked up a USS-8-64 from Cavalier the other week. From the get go this thing has been keeping things nice and cold for me without issue. I've been tinkering with it trying to troubleshoot why its not vending. My first problem was that the Coinco mech had a fried board in it so I have it off with the repair man now to fix that bit and also service it. He told me he can get it fixed for less than $100 so I figured that was worth a shot.
So this weekend I went and got all new ballasts and bulbs for the machine. I also wired up a jones free vend harness for it so I could test that bit out. The first thing I noticed is that the correct change light pulsates at the same rate as the marquee sign. Thought that was odd but chalked it up to the missing coin mech since according to the wire diagram that plays a role with the lights.
So then tonight I discovered where the magic lever is at that unlocks the vending. I manually activated that and it threw the breaker. I unplugged the wires from the solenoid in there in hopes that the solenoid was in a stuck state and if I unhooked the leads from it, it would be good. But now no matter what I do, it throws the breaker every time. So for now I've got it unplugged. Bummer since my drinks will get warm now but until I can get an idea of whats going on thats causing it to trip the breaker I'm kinda stuck. I also wonder if its the vending switch but I can't get my hands back in there far enough to unhook the wires from the switch.

If anyone has ran across this in the past or has a good idea of what might be going on please let me know. Thank you all in advance for your assistance.

Cavalier wiring problem.

thefuzz4,
1. It wasn't tripping breaker before you rewired the jones plug & put in new ballasts, so, if you undo that, it might solve that problem.
2. Most vending machines will not work right without the coin mech installed, so I would wait untill you get that back.
3. There is a post on this forum about the proper way to set old single price machines to free vend - by jumpering the vend solenoid. It covers the 2 major types of vend solenoids used.

Hope this helps,
