coin acceptor will not accept any coins

I have an automatic products 113 snack machine. It is not accepting any coins and when the bill validator accepts a bill, the coin mech is not giving any change. I bought a refurbished coin mech that was "bench tested" before being shipped. When I installed it, it did the same thing, so I am assuming the problem is not the coin mech itself.

I assume the coin mech is getting power because when the power to the machine is turned off, then turned on again, a nickel is automatically kicked out of the coin mech.

I can only conclude that the coin mech and the machine are not communicating, therefore there is a circuit board problem.

Can any one give me any troubleshooting ideas or help me understand what might be causing the problem. I realize there could be a short in a wire somewhere, but that seems unlikely to me.

Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds like a bad logic board.

Because the same problem existed with two coin mechs and because a coin is paid out upon power up, you might have a bad logic board but some troubleshooting must be done. I am curious if your display shows the credit when a dollar bill is accepted? This would indicate the logic board is working in some capacity. What happens to that credit? Can you make a purchase? Have you checked your prices or tried to reprice any selections? If you can reprice then again, your board might be okay. If the coin mech will accept only one coin, then your prices are all set to zero.

You could also have a voltage problem in the machine. This could be a bad power board that feeds the coin mech, a damaged power cord that got smashed under a leg, no ground on the power cord at the wall, a bad transformer putting out incorrect voltages, etc. Use a voltmeter and begin checking your voltages by following the wiring diagram in the manual. If you need further help with this you can email me by clicking the link by my name and we can get in touch to walk you through this.

Thank you for the reply. I

Thank you for the reply. I believe that the coin mech does not accept any coins, but it will accept a dollar bill and vends when a dollar bill is accepted. But I am not exactly positive this is the case. I will have to make some time to get back to the machine and I will contact you through the email link you provided.

Thank you for your time.
