Coinco BA30B and Mars Elec. TRC-6800 Problems

I have a Vendo 407 with a Coinco BA30B and a Mars Electronics TRC-6800, and though the bill acceptor accepts the bill, it doesn't seem to register it with the coin changer. When I insert the bill, I hear a loud relay CLICK, and it keeps the bill; making a selection does not work, and pressing the coin return lever does not return the bill. As far as the machine is concerned, I never inserted the bill... except there is a bill in the box.

Dip Switches on the BA30B are set to the factory defaults of : 1 - Off, 2 - Off, 3 - On, 4 - Off, 5 - Off, 6 - Off, 7 - Off, 8 - On

Dip Switches on the TRC-6800 are set to: 1 - On, 2 - Off, 3 - On (Tried it both ways), 4 - On, 5 - Off, 6 - Off

I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

Does the coin mech (mars) work with coins? If so it's looking bad for the coinco validator, BUT you need to check them both out because there is a chance the mars coin mech is not accepting the signal from the coinco validator. If they have been working all along then it is unlikely the dip switche settings are the problem. If you have spare a validator and changer you can swap them in and out and find which one is bad. But if not - have them both benched at a local vending machine sales/parts/repair company. Many vending machine sales co's have a parts and repair dept. and if not they can send you in the right direction. Sorry, but trying to diagnose the electronic circuits inside a changer or validator is WAY beyond this forum (and my abilities).

Thanks for the response. Yes, the coin changer works fine and even makes change, so I am now expecting the worst. I sent an email to a local vending machine parts and service company, and hopefully they will be able to help me determine which is faulty. What is the life expectancy on a coin changer? I may just replace both the coin changer and the bill validator.

I picked this machine up off of Craigslist for $150. It leaks like a siv unless you slam the door shut, and 1 of the 8 selections doesn't work, and the bill validator isn't working, but otherwise, it seemed like a good deal and looks nice, overall. I just wanted something for my shop to keep beverages convenient and cold; I keep a stack of quarters on top of the machine for friends and employees to use. So far, it's been pretty fun to have. I would just like to fix it up a little so it all works. I think I want a snack vending machine next. :)

Just a thought:
Again I'm posting because of the amount of views. I realize its an older post but if still interested If you could tell me what kind of connection your using from coinmech to validator I might be able to help. There are 2 different types of harness to control validator from mech. 1. There is a jones plug piggy back connector with a white 4 pin connector. (this is a plug that plugs into machine and the coinmech plugs into it). 2. Then there is a harness with a flat (usually) black 18 pin connector and a white square 9 pin connector. Also you said it was a TRC6800 coinmech I need to know if it is a TRC6800H coin mech there is a difference. A TRC6800 will not work with a validator unless its been adapted and if so I need to know what the adaptor harness looks like.
There are also dip switches inside the mech that may need to be turned on.
