dixie narco 240

Hello,
I am very new to vending, I only picked it up for my deck patio. I now have 2 machines, my 1st is a Dixie Narco 240 and the one this year is a Dixie Narco 501E. I never had a problem with the 240 it worked great. I shut it down for winter and start it up in the spring. Since I tried to restart it it had not worked. I optioned the coin machine and that seems to be working fine, what is happening is after it accepts the change and a selection is picked it will try and activate the selection motor but it will not operate. I don't know if I am explaining it correctly so I put a video on you tube you can see it here. I would appreciate any help. Thanks Tom

Which machine are we talking about....

tchipego,
Which machine is in the video the DN240 or the DN501e ?
It appears in the video that both the #6 selection and the #4 selection are both trying to work, which button are you pushing?
Also please upload a pic of the microswitch positions, they should be like the photo below one up and one down in the cam slot.(see photo) The photo is of a single price machine switches (1 up and 1 down in slot). On a multi-price machine there would be only 1 switch.
Get back to me and we might just be able to fix it up.

Darly,I have some cans in

Darly,
I have some cans in those 2 slots and I'm reaching around and pressing the selection buttons on the front of the machine. I dont have a clue but i can troubleshoot it a little. It accepts the money, it's sending a signal to the selection motor but no response. and its not sending anything back because it allows me to keep trying selections. if i put more money in its just kicks it out, and its doing it on all slots, just used those because i could reach them by myself. if you need another picture let me know. I Appreciate it tom

tom, since electricity is

tom, since electricity is getting to the vend motors and they are trying to work (the plastic brake is poping up and down in your video), it looks like either your motor gears are froze up with corrosion or the vend motors themselves have gone bad. Since fixing the gearboxs is cheaper than replacing motors, let's try that first.
FIRST UNPLUG THE MACHINE! Then unplug the electrical connections to the vend motor and microswitches. Remove the 3-4 screws that fasten the vendmotor/gearbox assembly to the machine. Remove the screws that attach the vend motor to the gearbox and separate the gearbox. Then with the gearbox assembly off the machine, spray the gearbox full of lubricant (wd-40, p-b blaster are my favorites, but some poeple on this forum don't like wd-40 :o because it leaves a slight smell, so you can use graphite lock lube if you like but I don't think it works as good). Then take a pair of visegrips and clamp them onto the gear shaft that comes out the back of the assembly and work those gears back and forth until freed up and they move reasonably well. Reassemble and re-install and try that selection. NOTE: when re-installing the vend motor/ gearbox assembly you MUST line up the gear shaft with the rail in the machine that dispenses the sodas. It is slotted and the cross pin on the gear shaft fits into the slot on the end of the rail. It will seam like it takes 3 hands to do it, but it will line up, then screw the vend motor/gearbox assembly into place (while holding the shaft and rail in place :))
If it still doesn't work then the vend motor is probably bad :( These are sold used as a unit (vend motor/gearbox assembly). They can be bought at many used vending machine suppliers on the web, my personal favorite is www.vendingmix.com and of course you NOW know how to remove and replace (R & R) them :)
good luck and let me know how it turns out.

thanks for the help

sorry for the long wait for my response, but you fixed it.
between very busy at work and some vacation and some frustration why it stopped doing what it was doing on the video, it was driving me nuts. I have learned a lot with your help. I started taking vend motor/gearbox assembly apart. and found that they were frozen up. I took the 4 screws off the back and found the easiest way to loosen them up was to lift the 1st gear off and take a couple of pliers and twist them. that solved the problems on 5 of them. the 6th one had a bent lever on the back of the gear box. I straightened it and it also worked. However when I put everything back it still did not work. It accepted the money but would no longer activate the motor like it did on the video. I was very frustrating, but I just found the problem. somehow with all my troubleshooting I mad a change on the options switch on the trc 6800 switch 4 was not set to vac, as soon as I switched that back everything worked. Thanks for the help. Just a fyi for anyone else out there I have a dn 501e and found out the setting to vend a 12 oz long neck bottle. I ordered the parts from a local vending machine vendor and it seemed expensive. I need a couple more so I will be calling around tomorrow to find a better price. anyway thanks again.
