Vendo 56 froze up?

I have a 1957 vendo 56 I recently purchased. It has worked perfectly until today when I came home and found warm sodas and the evaporator all frozen up.

How long should I thaw it before I plug it all back in to see if it works properly, and why do you think it froze up in the first place.

This is my first soda machine. It has original compressor, evaporator and freon apparently according to the vending man who looked at the coin mech last month. Said it seems to be working perfectly,

This is the first time it has frozen.

Thanks for your help

You will need to leave it off for at least 12 hours or more

but it could easily take less than that. The most common causes of a frozen evaporator are low freon, bad evaporator fan motor or an air leak into the cabinet.
