Vendo soda machine model 7145

I have a friend who has a few soda machines and is new to vending. She took the sodas out of one section and filled it with water. Then did not rotate the disk in front of the motor that tells it how far to turn around. The motor went around and then stopped halfway before a water would drop then stopped working at all. I have never worked on a vendo only a dixie narco and sectivend. the vendo is a little different and I cant figure out why I can't get it to work. Please help

Water bottle problem in Vendo soda machine

dbabcock01,
I have never heard of a Vendo Model 7145? They make (or made) models: 740, 721 and 475. In this case it is probably the same problem in all the models.
I will assume you are using 1/2 liter water bottles and not 20oz water bottles.
A couple of things come to mind:
1. You probably have jammed bottle that is half-way vended.
SAFETY FIRST! Un-plug the power to the machine.
Next, to release the pressure on the bottle and make it easy to remove, push down on one end (or pull up on the other end) of the motor brake shown in picture below. This should release the motor shaft and it should spin backwards a little bit, allowing you to pull out the jammed water bottle.
Finally plug in the machine and when the motor has cooled it should reset itself to 'home' position.
You can now reset the cam to the 1 or 2 notch setting so it will vend 1 or 2 water bottle per revolution as needed. BUT, see # 2 below.

2. You can NOT vend the "squishy" water bottles (like those found in grocery stores and Sam's Clubs) in a standard Vendo soda machine. Because of the mechanism Vendo uses, they will jam more often than they vend. In a Vendo soda machine you can only vend 'hard' plastic water bottles. The major soda companies charge so much for their water bottles that it is impractical to vend them profitably. Nestle Waters USA sells a hard bottle that will vend in a Vendo soda machine for about 20 cents a bottle. They are listed in our directory here: Nestle Waters North America They should be able to tell you where to find a local vending wholesale distributor for their vend-able 'hard' water bottles.
Also a Dixie-Narco soda machine can vend the "squishy" water bottles with certain restrictions (not very many loaded in a column).

Hope this helps,
daryl
